2010 PTA Update
The 2010 PTA is seeking volunteers to serve on next year’s
board (2010-2011). Officers will be nominated at the meeting
on Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at 7:00 pm. Nominees will be
posted in the school office for one month and elections will be
held on Tuesday April 20, 2010 at 7:00 pm. The Executive
Board consists of the following positions: President, Vice
President, Secretary, and Treasurer. The new board would
appoint individuals for the following committee positions:
Webmaster, Gotcha Store Chair, Fundraising Chair, Event
Chair, Auditor, and Parliamentarian. Once these committee
chairs are appointed, they become part of the Executive
Board.
If no board members are nominated and volunteers do not
step forward – Lichen will have no PTA and its assets will
come under the control of the San Juan Council and/or the
Third District PTA. These organizations will hold the assets
until such time as a PTA is active again.
There are many school functions which will go unfunded
without PTA. Our very successful Gotcha Store, the positive
behavior enforcement program that benefits our teachers and
students, will go away without a PTA to fund and run it. Other
events such as Pancakes with Santa, Back to School BBQ,
Family Assemblies, Student Awards (the medals for academic
excellence), Art Docent Program Support, School Garden
Support, Teacher Appreciation and other special programs will
no longer be funded or run by PTA.
If you are interested in supporting your child’s school, please
contact Jamie Sears at Cheers4Sears@yahoo.com or speak
with the Principal to express your interest. You are welcome to
self-nominate at our upcoming meeting. We look forward to
working with you!
